The Most Disgusting Ad I’ve Ever Seen

As someone with an avid interest in Politics, I have seen a lot of attack ads. It’s an impact of that interest, and also a side effect of living in Canada, near the United States border. I get to see both our advertising with its share of attack ads, and the even more brutal U.S. advertising.

Dog whistles, personal attacks, lies, and more are all things that I’ve seen, and am often left shaking my head after seeing it. None have them as gobsmacked as the ad that National Republican Congressional Committee has aired for the special election in New York State to fill George Santos’ seat.

The ad, which attacks the Democrat Candidate Tom Suozzi has some of the usual types of rhethoric and attacks you might expect. It has the attacks on illegal immigrants, someone being ‘soft on crime’, and the like. That would be trouble stuff enough for me on my feelings on the matter, but the part that disgusted me happened between the 22 and 24 second mark in the ad:

If you didn’t see it, in the 23 second mark, they superimpose the image of the man being booked with that of a darker skinned person for a fraction of a second. In fact, it’s so little that I had to see the ad twice on TV to be sure that’s what happened, as did my mom when I mentioned it to her.

These are two shots from the Trailer, the latter, super imposed over the former

The naked race baiting here by putting someone darker skinned, or darkening the skin of the person is just crazyand designed to play solely to racists. The short span it’s there makes it seem that the NRCC is seeking for someone to subconsciously effect folks, them attaching that to Suzzzi, especially since the other end of that transition is Tom Suozzi.

The lines in the ad that go along with this:

A crisis on our border,
murder in our streets,
Because of radicals like Tom Suozzi.

I felt I had to share this because of what it foretells for the year ahead and what the Republicans thinks they are able to get away with. It is disgusting, and the worst sort of advertisiing with the racism on clear display.
