Food Monsters abound in Wilds of Eldraine… beware Syr Ginger !

Hello folks,

I’ve fallen behind what I was hoping to do for the Newfoundland adventure but hopefully I’ll get a bit more on pace on that. I enjoy writing them its just making sure that I take a deep breathe and don’t over think it. So expect to see one later this week, as I want to try and get one out a week.

In the meantime, over at TechRaptor I’ve written some more about Magic: The Gathering. This time I’m introducing folks to the newest set by looking at some of the common cards and the different limited archetypes in it. This set is pretty neat because it focuses a lot on fairy tales, and each of those archetypes maps onto Magic’s take on one of the archetypes.

The Snow Queen — Merfolk! That’s different, and freezing creatures down.

Sleeping Beauty — Aurora is a fairy and still doing stuff while asleep

The Pied Piper of Hamelin — He found a home with the rats, not just servants who’d obey him, in part because there are sentient rats on Eldraine.

Little Read Riding Hood — Ruby fights alongside some monsters!

Beauty and the Beast — Gender flipped! It’s a male beauty, and a werefox beast. A besotted knight in love.

Snow White — It’s all about enchanting things

The Sorcerer’s Apprentice — Oh dear elementals run wild.

Hansel and Gretel — Food Monsters for Gretel to slay

Cinderella — Ash (one of her more common names in other languages) is a party crasher here and quite loud, and prince charming here actually can turn into a dragon!

Jack and the Beanstock — Jack is an alien!

You can read me talking more about the magic stuff here:
