Millennia Review and Status Update
Ello everyone
It’s been a few weeks since I wrote here, as it seems to be sometimes. So going to write a bit here and share some of what’s going on with me at work and in general. Stay to the end for some pictures of a cute puppy!
Writer at Hardcore Gamer
As you might have already seen, while I’m still at TechRaptor, I also am writing at Hardcore Gamer, doing a mix of reviews, news, and guides there. You can view all the stuff I’ve done here if you want to read about whats been going on.
My most recent article went out today, and if you are interested I’d love for you to read it and share your thoughts with me. It’s a review of the new 4x Strategy game Millennia that is coming out tomorrow.
Personally, I found it an enjoyable, but flawed game that struggles with its user interface/experience some, and fails to knock Civilization from its perch but is worth it. There’s more in the review of course, and if you have any questions feel free to ask.
Still Writing at TechRaptor
You should expect to see me still writing at TechRaptor, and doing a variety of things there. This will include Magic: The Gathering articles, and various other gaming related stuff! If you play MTG or anything, and there’s stuff that interests you — let me know.
My most recent TR MTG Article was about upgrading the Fallout Mutant Menace deck — taking the Master, Transcendant and putting him in charge and putting in some neat cards for it. It’s a shame the decks had so little Fallout 1/2 represented in them, in my opinion.
Working with Paladin Legal Services
I am also working with my dad and his business partners at Paladin Legal services, where I’m doing writing and support work. Last month we did a presentation about the Standard Lease, though you’ll have to talk to him if you want all the details.
Expect to see some things that I’ll share here that are related to that, as well as to Silspro — the immigration side of things. I find legal stuff always interesting, even if I’m not a practitioner of it myself. If you’d like to hear more on things in legal areas we can work on that and knowing what you would like to hear is good — as presumably others would be interested as well. We plan on doing a Newsletter in the near future so interest understanding is good for us.
If you don’t know, here are the areas the business does cover:
- Landlord and Tenant Board (rentals, etc)
- Small Claims
- Provincial Offences
- Immigration
- Employment Law
Writing Here
I’ve been bad at writing here, but I do plan on getting to it some more. There are some things I want to talk about that don’t really fit with my day job, and this gives me a place to talk about them. I am going to be doing a piece about the issues with Generative AI, as there are a lot. I admit, I’m not an expert but I have looked into it a fair amount and have some good reasons to have serious reservations with the current hot tech.
Beyond that I’m going to try and do something every week or two here, sometimes just a bit of thoughts along with links to what I posted, sometimes more. I don’t want to get too set in schedule. I would love to hear what you’d like to hear about as I have a lot of different ideas in my mind. Here are some areas:
- Short Fiction/Flash Fiction
- Canadian Politics Thoughts/Commentary
- Newfoundland Trip
- Restaurant reviews
You’ll likely see all of these at times, but what I start with or focus on more will be influenced by any thoughts you share.
Puppy Time
My dad has gotten a new Beagle Puppy from St John’s so I’m going to take this opportunity to merciless exploit that and show you a couple pictures of Molly as thanks for reading. She’s seven weeks old right now, so very young and curious.
