I wrote about some upcoming Steam games and the demos from them, as I tried them out during Steam Next Fest on TechRaptor. You can read the article here: https://techraptor.net/gaming/opinions/10-steam-next-fest-games-you-should-try-october-2024

As a bonus for blog readers I’m going to include an extra game here that I liked!

Warside

If you’re a fan of Nintendo’s Advanced War series, Warside is a shameless rip off in just about every way. It plays really well, snappy, with good unit variety and solid battles with it.

Warside Demo battle map in the desert, where your forces are attempting to fight the foes. The enemy tank is approaching and attacking a building previously claimed by the infantry

That said, its incredibly derivative, and from the demo didn’t seem to add anything to the formula. That’s what led it to not being on the top 10 list, as it just felt too much of a clone right down to the look.

Advanced Wars doesn’t release on PC however, and if you want to play it without resorting to emulation on your computer, Warside will give you a really good approximation.

Now, if you didn’t earlier, please go read the article on TechRaptor as that shows my editors that people are interested in articles like that and helps me out.
